Timothy Cotter

House Of The Scorpion

By: Nancy Farmer

The story starts off with this boy in a house and you have no clue why he might be in the house. He is kept away from all of the kids and he only knows one person who has raised him for his whole life. He is around seven and knows nothing about the out side world. The only thing he now about him self is that he has some writing on his foot and it says property of the eclairen estate. One day he is looking out the window and he sees two kids walking over to the house and they see him so he is happy because he now that other people exists besides him. One day later they come back and they have a friend and she is his age so then he escapes and they bring him home to their house and he is treated like junk. But he doesn’t know why he is being treated so badly and then it turns out that he is a clone. So he is thrown in to a room and then they put hay allover the floor and treat him like a animal and he is still clue less. After about three months of being confined to that room he is found by the person he is a clone of and he is treated like royalty getting what he wants when he wants it and he starts to really like this guy but he doesn’t know that he is a clone of him. At the end of the book the old man is going to die if he doesn’t get a heart implant and he needs his clones but one of the people watching over the little boy had been poisoning him so that his heart would be no good and only the little boy could have it so that he could live. So then they say that if he is no use that then he should be killed so this guy comes in and grabs him to go throw him into a toxic zone and he would have suffocated. But really he brings him to a hiding place and tells him to cross the state border once the sun rises in the morning. So then he got up in the morning he makes it up the mountain and sprints across the border and is sent to working at a shrimp farm where they behead shrimp and then send them down the line to the next station.

I think that this book is a very good book and all the people that I know should read this book.
